The National Unification: development of a political party between 1934 and 1938

This thesis captures the development of a Czechoslovak political party National Unification from its foundation in 1934 until it was dissolved in 1938. It places the party in a political and historical context of the First Czechoslovak Republic, it analyses its program and ideological foundations. The thesis considers the concepts of nationalism and fascism which were and still are closely connected with the National Unification party. It describes the 1935 parliamentary elections from a viewpoint of the political party campaign and focuses on the contrast between the party expectations and the electoral results.

The Czech fascist movement in the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic, with an emphasis on developments in the region of Pardubice

Presented thesis focuse on the phenomenon of the Czech fascist movement in the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic, with an emphasis on developments in the Pardubice region. Czech fascism and extreme nationalism, which was mainly represented by the National Fascist Community, formed a distinctive part of the domestic political scene in Czechoslovakia in the inter- war period and therefore it deserves a more detailed research.These thesis do not aim to create a synthetic study of the Czech fascism during the first republic, or try to cover the development of the national Fascist Community and other fascist and extremely nationalist organizations throughout the territory of Czechoslovakia. The main target is to create a regional probe that detects the specifics of that movement in the chosen region. Czech fascism in the Pardubice region copied nationwide development in many ways, yet it is possible to define the specifics distinguishing that region.It was mainly about the unusual social composition of the interwar Pardubice caused by sharp demographic changes since the second half of the nineteenth century, by the existence of a large number of retired soldiers and Legionnaires or by the absence of significant ethnic minorities.The fate of Vojtěch Vážný who was the central figure of the local...

Fascist tendencies in peasant party in thirties of twentieth century Abstract (in English): This work will concern with fascist trends in peasant party during the thirties of twentieth century. This period is characterised by taking power or consolidation of non-democratic regimes and deepening the economical crisis. In this work we will try to find out if the fascist trends were incorporated in politics and speeches of republican party. At first we will describe the function of republican party in political system of Czechoslovakia. Then we will determine basic features of fascist movements based on the analysis of several authors, which will be compared with the manifestations of the peasant party and assess if there are fascist tendencies or not.

The Influence of Czech fascism on National Democrats and its Forms

The purpose of the thesis is to examine the relationships between the Czech fascists and the National Democratic Party in all its forms. The thesis covers the analysis of these relationships and their displays. The author used analytical and comparative methods as well as available specialized literature and other sources. The dissertation is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter analyzes the fascist theory, its main characteristics and, in one of its subchapter, the specific Czech scheme for better understanding of the fascist environment during the First Czechoslovakian Republic era. The second chapter deals with fascists' actions and operation during the First Czechoslovakian Republic era. For important changes that took place in 1938, the political system of the so called "Second Republic" is briefly mentioned, as the political direction was extremely right wing oriented. The third chapter focuses on the National democratic party and analyzes the party's activities up to 1935. For better compression, the Czechoslovak political system is also outlined in this section. Vedoucí diplomové práce PhDr. Petr Bednařík Ph.D. Abstrakt: Diplomová práce "Obraz sudetských Němců v českém tisku v krizovém roce 1938" se zabývá mediálním obrazem německé menšiny v Československu v období mnichovské krize (od dubna 1938 do podpisu mnichovské dohody), a to formou komparace, která zahrnuje ústřední tiskové orgány hlavních politických proudů té doby: u ČSDSD - Právo lidu, u ČSNS - České slovo, u ČND (Národního sjednocení) - Národní listy, u KSČ - Rudé právo, u ČSL - Lidové listy a u agrárníků (Republikánské strany zemědělského a malorolnického lidu) - Venkov. Práce se rovněž dotýká postojů českých fašizujících proudů k sudetským Němcům. Výstupy stranických periodik nejsou zkoumány izolovaně, ale i vzhledem k politickým postojům jednotlivých stran a je zohledněn vývoj těchto postojů v čase s tím, jak se krize prohlubovala, rozdělením zkoumaných témat do tří hlavních období roku 1938. V neposlední řadě jsou tyto postoje konfrontovány i s postoji tisku sudetských Němců. Práce je obecně zarámována pojednáním o mezinárodních a historických souvislostech...
